History of Healing for African Aboriginal - myassignmenthelp

Question: Write about theHistory of Healing for African Aboriginal Community. Answer: This learning module has not only enlightened me about the alternative medical discipline as followed amongst the African aboriginal community members, but has also increased my knowledge about how effective the indigenous form of healing is. Prior to reading this, I always believed that the African medicine and healers are too unscientific to find any place in the modern pharmacology system. However, the module has enlightened me about how the healers have proved to be highly effective in curing chronic diseases such as Diabetes and Obesity. This module has further enhanced my awareness about how the apartheid government forcefully imposed the Western Worldview on the African people, without attempting to understand and examine the validity of the traditional African healing process. Their healing process was however inextricable associated with their religious and spiritual worldview. Hence, if I cannot comprehend their worldview of spirituality, I am less likely to find their heal ing process reliable and a credible one. I found it interesting that the African people are presently employing a two-way-approach to healthcare issues, whereby by the side of traditional healers, they are also embracing the Western medicines as the latter is more scientifically proven to be effective. However, the most important thing that has overwhelmed me beyond anything, is how they define the physical well-being in terms of spirituality. The balanced relation with family and kin help in ensuring overall well-being that undoubtedly helps in preventing stress and anxiety problems, leading to cholesterol and high blood pressure problem. In case an individual is unable to reach and fulfil the maximum spiritual potential needed out of him, he will fall prey to the illness. However, I could not appreciate the idea of illness being accused by evil spirit as it clearly lacks rational approach and scientific evidence.
